WASHINGTON \u2014 President Trump<\/a> said Monday\u00a0he will move up the deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> to stop his invasion of Ukraine from its original 50 days \u2014 one day after telling The Post\u2019s Miranda Devine \u201cthere\u2019s no reason to wait that long.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to make a new deadline of about 10 to 12 days from today,\u201d Trump told reporters at his Turnberry club in Scotland while meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.<\/p>\n

Trump, 79, originally gave Putin 50 days<\/a> from July 14 to bring the invasion of Russia\u2019s western neighbor to a close and work out a peace agreement or face additional economic punishment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m disappointed in him, I must be honest with you,\u201d the US president told Devine of his Russian counterpart on the newest episode of \u201cPod Force One,\u201d to be released Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had great conversations, but it hasn\u2019t been followed up with, you know, just some very bad things have happened.\u00a0Very, very bad things have happened after we\u2019ve had conversations.\u00a0 And I\u2019d leave and I\u2019d say, \u2018Well, I really thought we had it settled\u2019 three or four times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said Monday he has not decided whether to impose additional sanctions on Russia or slap secondary tariffs<\/a> on buyers of Russian energy \u2014 which would affect countries like China, India and Brazil \u2014 but reiterated that \u201cwe just don\u2019t see any progress being made\u201d toward ending Europe\u2019s bloodiest conflict since World War II.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not so interested in talking anymore,\u201d he added as Starmer looked on.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky<\/a> has been open to meeting Putin to negotiate the end of the\u00a041-month-old\u00a0war, but the Kremlin\u00a0declined to send\u00a0the Russian president to meet for direct talks, choosing to engage with lower staff first.<\/p>\n

Zelensky told The Post<\/a> in a recent one-on-one sitdown that he was \u201cvery grateful\u201d that Trump supports sanctions, but he\u00a0worried the 50-day deadline would cost too many lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cFifty days, for us, is just \u2014 every day is scary,\u201d Zelensky said on July 17 in an interview in Kyiv.<\/p>\n

\u201cPutin has wasted President Trump\u2019s time,\u201d the Ukrainian leader added. \u201cI would very much like to see the United States, the Congress and the president put some pressure on this situation with sanctions and so the sooner, the faster it can be done, the better.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three Ukraine-Russia delegation meetings held in Turkey in the past few months have not successfully established a cease-fire, but have led to prisoner swaps.<\/p>\n

The last meeting, held on July 23, lasted for less than an hour. The two sides didn\u2019t come close to a cease-fire, despite Trump\u2019s 50-day warning for Russia.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump has phoned Putin directly and has tried to be a mediator in the war between him\u00a0and\u00a0Zelensky. He\u2019s said that Putin tells him he wants to end the war, only to go on directing\u00a0missile\u00a0strikes on Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have wonderful conversations,\u201d Trump told Devine Sunday. \u201cAnd then I go home, I turn on the news, and I see that Kyiv has just been bombed. It\u2019s just been ripped into. You can\u2019t do that stuff. I mean, I said, \u2018Wait a minute.
