The View<\/a> cohosts are taking a little time to enjoy a little summer hiatus.\n<\/p>\n

That’s right \u2014 after a full season of Hot Topics, spicy cohost clashes<\/a>, high-profile political guests<\/a>, and even courting pointed responses<\/a> from the White House<\/a>, The View talk show stars have gone off the air for the year.\n<\/p>\n

At the end of Friday’s season 28 finale, moderator Joy Behar<\/a> announced that the panel would take a break from their posts throughout August to take some time off, maybe go on vacation, and \u2014 hopefully, at least in Behar’s case \u2014 go on an Italian journey where they call at least one passenger train hostess a “bitch.”<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

“Don’t forget to check out our encore presentations, and we’ll see you in September,” Behar said, seated among cohosts Sara Haines<\/a>, Ana Navarro<\/a>, Sunny Hostin<\/a>, and Alyssa Farah Griffin<\/a> at the end of the episode. “Until then, have a great day, have a great vacation, everyone, and take a little time to enjoy the summer!”\n<\/p>\n

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> dipped one day earlier after Thursday’s broadcast, as the EGOT-winning actress typically has Fridays off throughout the regular season, though she is expected to return to the show for season 29 alongside the panel, which is currently the longest-running fixed roster of cohosts the show has had in years.\n<\/p>\n

Still, the show’s pre-taped weekend edition, The Weekend View, aired new installments over the last few days, including Saturday’s episode that saw Haines apparently use profanity<\/a> during a discussion about dementia and Behar shock Griffin by asking her colleague to reveal details<\/a> about the time she lost her virginity.\n<\/p>\n

Prior to going on its annual summer hiatus, The View panel’s opinions elicited responses from major government figures, including the White House, which exclusively released a statement<\/a> to Entertainment Weekly labeling Behar an “irrelevant loser” after she alleged that Donald Trump<\/a> was jealous of Barack Obama<\/a>‘s looks, singing ability, and marriage.\n<\/p>\n

The statement urged that Behar “should self-reflect on her jealousy of President Trump\u2019s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air” \u2014 a clear reference to the abrupt cancellation of Late Show host<\/a> and staunch Trump critic Stephen Colbert’s program.\n<\/p>\n

Later, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr also suggested that “consequences”<\/a> could be in store for The View.\n<\/p>\n

“It’s entirely possible that there’s issues over there. Stepping back, this broader dynamic, once President Trump has exposed these media gatekeepers and smashed this facade, there’s a lot of consequences,” Carr speculated last week on Fox News. “I think the consequences of that aren’t quite finished.”<\/p>\n

In The View’s absence, encore broadcasts begin airing Monday, with repeat airings of interviews with figures like Bill Murray<\/a>, Naomi Watts<\/a>, and Tamron Hall<\/a> (July 28); Nathan Lane<\/a>, Matt Bomer<\/a>, and LaTanya Richardson Jackson<\/a> (July 29); Michael Angarano, Michael Cera<\/a>, and Elie Mystal (July 30); Sen. Raphael Warnock and Shanola Hampton (July 31), and Charlie Cox<\/a>, Vincent D’Onofrio<\/a>, and Antoni Porowski<\/a> (Aug. 1).\n<\/p>\n
