Unclear, the future of Star Wars television<\/a> is. With only one more live-action show<\/a> on the horizon, the fates of so many other shows\u2014The Mandalorian, Skeleton Crew, The Book of Boba Fett, etc.\u2014all remain in flux. Some might come back, most probably won\u2019t, but not even Yoda can see what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

One person who really, really wants to know what\u2019s next, though, is Ewan McGregor<\/a>. Back in 2022, McGregor reprised his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi<\/a> for a semi-successful miniseries and, in the years since, he\u2019s been very open about his desire to return. McGregor is currently promoting his new movie The End of Oak Street<\/a> and, in a new interview, gave one of his patented pleas to Disney<\/a> to get it done. This time, though, he even has some specific ideas about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m ready whenever they are,\u201d McGregor told E! News. \u201cThey just seem to not be ready. I don\u2019t know why. But I\u2019m up for it. At the end of the \u2018Obi-Wan\u2019 series, I\u2019m walking off into the desert. I\u2019ve decided to leave. I\u2019ve realized I can\u2019t keep the pressure on Luke. I realized he has to have his own childhood, so I leave him with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. And I wander off\u2026 and Qui-Gon\u2019s back. And we go off\u2026 but where are we going?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next time we find Obi-Wan Kenobi, he\u2019s Alec Guinness in the cave, up in the mountains,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhat happens between those two moments is what I want to do and spend the rest of my career doing these stories. \u2018Stories.\u2019 You know, series or movies. We\u2019ve got plenty of time; I\u2019ve got 10 years before I am Alec Guinness\u2019s age. So come on, Disney!\u201d<\/p>\n

That last part is so scary. Is Ewan McGregor only 10 years away from being as old as Alec Guinness was in A New Hope? Terrifying. Anyway, here\u2019s the clip.<\/p>\n

McGregor says he doesn\u2019t know why Disney isn\u2019t ready, but let\u2019s be honest. He knows. We all know. Star Wars shows are expensive, and the audiences aren\u2019t watching in the numbers needed to justify the cost. Plain and simple. But sometimes you\u2019ve got to spend money to make money, and bringing back Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, and others for more Obi-Wan sure sounds interesting and fun.<\/p>\n
