Passengers on a flight from Malaysia to Bangkok were shocked by a Thai man who became agitated mid-journey, repeatedly shouting demands for the aircraft to land and reportedly attempting to open an exit door.<\/p>\n
The man was a lieutenant<\/a> in the Royal Thai Army who had been receiving treatment<\/a> for mental health<\/a> issues, the Defence Ministry said on Monday.<\/p>\n A video taken by another passenger aboard the flight to Don Mueang International Airport was shared widely on social media on Sunday. The airline and flight number were not given.<\/p>\n The recording showed a man in a white shirt walking up and down the aisle<\/a> while repeatedly shouting the word \u201clanding\u201d in English.<\/p>\n At one point, he spoke incoherently in Thai.<\/p>\n According to reports, the man tried to open an aircraft door during the incident. Two male cabin attendants were seen struggling to restrain<\/a> him and eventually securing him in a seat. He continued shouting, sometimes profanely.<\/p>\n On Monday, the ministry confirmed the man worked in its Office of Policy and Planning.<\/p>\n It said the lieutenant<\/a> had been undergoing treatment<\/a> for a mental health<\/a> condition and experienced a relapse<\/a> during the flight.
