Two adorable puppies that were abandoned in a Queens dumpster with their mouths wired shut are on the mend and seeking their fur-ever homes, animal advocates said Thursday.<\/p>\n
The four-month old pooches, Poppy<\/a> and Petunia<\/a>, were rushed to an emergency veterinary center after they were found dumped in Flushing on July 12, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.<\/p>\n \u201cThese victimized puppies were found in horrendous conditions \u2014 heartlessly abused and discarded with no chance of survival if not for the Good Samaritan who intervened and reported this alleged cruelty to the police,\u201d said David Little, senior law enforcement liaison for the ASPCA.\u00a0<\/p>\n Poppy, one of two puppies found abandoned in a Queens dumpster, is up for adoption. ASPCA Adoption Center<\/p>\n The frightened furballs were both severely underweight with\u00a0painful gashes on their jaws, which they were unable to open due to the injuries, according to the ASPCA.<\/p>\n The pair of pups were then transferred to an Animal Recovery Center in Manhattan, where they were treated for their wounds and given antibiotics.<\/p>\n The lucky dogs are both now up for adoption, and \u201clooking for new, loving homes,\u201d according to the ASPCA.<\/p>\n Petunia, a puppy rescued after being found abandoned in a dumpster, is pictured in July 2026 in Queens.
