JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Jacksonville Beach Police Department has issued a warning to residents regarding a phone scam where callers claim victims have outstanding warrants.<\/p>\n
Scammers impersonate law enforcement officers and may use real names and badge numbers to make calls sound legitimate. Callers demand immediate payment using gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers to avoid arrest.<\/p>\n
Police emphasized that law enforcement agencies will not call residents demanding payment to clear a warrant. Unsolicited callers should not be given personal information, including Social Security numbers or banking details.<\/p>\n
They advised individuals not to be pressured into making immediate payments. Anyone receiving a suspicious call is urged to hang up and verify the claim by contacting the agency directly through an official phone number.<\/p>\n
