CHICAGO (WLS) — Two custodians who were found shot to death in a Southwest Side school earlier this week have now both been identified by officials Thursday.<\/p>\n

Chicago police and union officials said two school custodians were found shot to death<\/a> inside Mark Twain Elementary School on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Theottis James Stigger, 63, of Chicago died by suicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The other person who died, who the medical examiner’s office said was a homicide victim, was identified Thursday as 48-year-old Amalia Bautista-Perez of Chicago. She died of a gunshot wound to the face.<\/p>\n

The school’s principal said no students were inside the building at the time of the shooting, but the incident left some families questioning school safety ahead of the start of the school year.<\/p>\n

Police said they received a call at about 3:40 p.m. from the Garfield Ridge neighborhood’s 5100-block of South Lotus. A 48-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man were found inside the school, each with a single gunshot wound to the head, police said. Both were taken to a hospital, where they died.<\/p>\n

Audio from police radio communications included reports that “In the hallway we have one female,” “The shooter shot himself in the head,” and “There is a firearm right next to the offender.”<\/p>\n

Police have not said what led to the gunfire.<\/p>\n
