{"id":999651,"date":"2026-08-14T05:39:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T05:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/999651\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T05:39:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T05:39:15","slug":"stock-market-today-live-updates-268","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/999651\/","title":{"rendered":"Stock market today: Live updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. <\/p>\n<p>NYSE<\/p>\n<p>Stock futures were little changed early Friday after a record-setting session, with two of the three major benchmarks on pace for their third consecutive weekly advance. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@SP.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500 futures<\/a> traded around the flatline, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq-100 futures<\/a> inched lower. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dow Jones Industrial Average futures<\/a> rose just 37 points. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> on Thursday hit an intraday all-time high of 7,816.70. The benchmark also closed at a record. <\/p>\n<p>The tech and communication services sectors were among the big winners in the index, rising roughly 1% each. <\/p>\n<p>In Asia, Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikkei 225<\/a>\u00a0added 0.44% while the Topix rose 0.49%. South Korea&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kospi<\/a> advanced 1.14%, and the small-cap Kosdaq lost 0.57%. Hong Kong&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hang Seng index<\/a>\u00a0was down 0.93%, while mainland China&#8217;s CSI 300 inched 0.12% lower. Australia&#8217;s benchmark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> was 0.92% lower.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The market is appropriately bullish right now,&#8221; Anastasia Amoroso, chief investment strategist at Partners Group, told CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/closing-bell\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Closing Bell<\/a>&#8221; in an interview, noting the strength in U.S. corporate earnings. <\/p>\n<p>With more than 90% of S&amp;P 500 companies having posted second-quarter results, earnings growth from the year-earlier period is tracking around 50%, according to FactSet. <\/p>\n<p>Amoroso also noted that software has &#8220;rallied and rebounded \u2026 I think the market came to the realization that maybe we did not appropriately price in those risks.&#8221; Indeed, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/IGV\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV)<\/a> is up around 28% over the past six months after tumbling more than 24% in the first quarter. IGV climbed more than 3% on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>Thursday&#8217;s gain put the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq Composite on pace for their third straight weekly advances. Heading into Friday&#8217;s session, the former is up 0.5%, while the latter has advanced 0.4%. The Dow, meanwhile, is down 0.4% week to date. <\/p>\n<p>There are no major earnings due Friday, but investors will have a look at July retail sales figures at 8:30 a.m. ET.
