<\/p>\nFARGO \u2014 Any day you can get out and golf is considered a win and at Rose Creek golf course in Fargo on Thursday, Aug. 13, Randy DeBolt was out playing in the North Dakota Senior Games. <\/p>\n
DeBolt, of Fargo, is no stranger to courses in the metro. And it was in the state of North Dakota where he racked up an incredible number of visits to state courses \u2014 104 in all.<\/p>\n
DeBolt’s love for golf is strong.<\/p>\n
“You go out in the morning and it is just you and the grass,” he said.<\/p>\n

He has now checked off an incredible accomplishment: golfing in all 50 states. His last one, just this summer in Alaska.<\/p>\n
“It had been raining for days and it rained all morning the day we got there and we got out in the golf course and it quit for all 18 holes,” he said.<\/p>\n
From North Carolina to Texas, to Kansas, Nevada and New Mexico. All 50 states. And in some states, many courses.<\/p>\n
“(Ninety) in South Carolina, 58 in North Carolina,” he said. “Minnesota, 46 courses.”<\/p>\n
And not just golfing in the United States.<\/p>\n
“(Twelve) different countries, yep,” he said. It helped that he spent years in the Navy, he said.<\/p>\n
He meticulously keeps track of the courses, how he played and other notes in notebook. <\/p>\n
“I have it broken down by each state and wrote notes on where I played and notes on each course and my scores,” he said. “I follow a few guys on Twitter and we count courses \u2014 500 is a big milestone and I just passed 700 courses.”<\/p>\n
No sign of quitting now. Even though there are days.<\/p>\n
“There are days you wonder why you come out and play. Like today, I made a 10 on one hole, two sixes near the end and three pars to finish,” he said, laughing.<\/p>\n
Keeping it simple. Despite a complicated game that just keeps him coming back for more.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, DeBolt was golfing with another overachiever. Shannon Holter, mayor of Bowbells, has golfed 130 North Dakota courses. He will golf his final two this weekend \u2014 Fargo Country Club and Oxbow.<\/p>\n
DeBolt said his favorite courses have been the Tobacco Road in North Carolina, Land Man in Nebraska and Pacific Dunes in Oregon.<\/p>\n
