RESEDA (CNS) – Four suspects, including a juvenile, have been taken into custody in connection with stealing catalytic converters from vehicles, police announced today. Officers assigned to the Devonshire Division responded around 2:50am Tuesday to the 7400 block of Hesperia Avenue to reports of three male suspects removing a catalytic converter from a parked Toyota Tundra, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.<\/p>\n
The responding officers located a vehicle with a stolen license plate and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the black Mercedes-Benz C-300 failed to yield, resulting in a vehicle pursuit, police said. The California Highway Patrol took over the chase. It ended in the 500 block of South Eastman Avenue, where four suspects were taken into custody. ”A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of ski masks, burglary tools and eight catalytic converters that had been cut,” police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old, who was the driver during the chase, 22-year-old Mario Gonzalez, 23-year-old Bryan Canul, and 23-year-old Michael Pedraja. All three adult suspects were booked on suspicion of grand theft and held without bail. The juvenile suspect was also arrested.<\/p>\n
