What’s ahead for Israel as votes are counted with no clear winner
They are still counting in Israel’s general election. The latest best guess for the official results is tomorrow but that won’t confirm the shape of the next government.
With most votes counted, the sitting Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has done slightly better than last night’s initial exit polls suggested.
The fight is on against his opponent Gadi Eisenkot to build a governing coalition.
For Mr Eisenkot, that could involve thinking the once unthinkable – a deal with Arab-led parties – and that would mark a huge shift in Israeli politics.
