35 news bills are set to be announced in the King’s Speech as His Majesty opens parliament. The State Opening of Parliament is a day of royal pomp and pageantry as The King kicks off a new parliamentary session in the House of Lords. The King and Queen will leave Buckingham Palace in his state coach late morning, making his way to parliament in a procession led by the Household Cavalry. After arriving at parliament, he’ll don the imperial state crown and ceremonial robes. He then leads the royal procession through parliament to the chamber of the House of Lords, where MPs will gather to watch him deliver the speech.
The King’s Speech is expected to include legislation to:
Further protect small businesses amid ongoing economic uncertainty caused by the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine;
Boost economic growth by reforming regulation
Speed up the delivery of green energy technologies and national grid infrastructure;
Increase trade with the EU;
Further reform the immigration system;
Counter cyberattacks and hostile state threats online;
Nationalise British Steel;
Abolish leasehold homes;
Provide special needs education in mainstream schools;
Further remove NHS bureaucracy and provide more health interventions earlier on;
And reduce the right to buy and provide homes for domestic abuse survivors.
