Coming up: Starmer set to announce social media ban

Sir Keir Starmer is set to speak at No 10 this morning announcing a social media ban for children under 16.

The Prime Minister is expected to block children from most social media sites, including TikTok and Snapchat by raising the age limit for access from 13 to 16.

Sir Keir is to propose that the new restrictions are enforced through age-recognition facial scans and digital IDs, which are referred to as “highly effective age assurance” systems.
