Andy Burnham has appointed John Healey as Chancellor and Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary as he puts together his first cabinet as prime minister – sacking several Starmer loyalists in the process.
Healey’s appointment to the Treasury’s top job is unexpected, after much speculation pointed to Shabana Mahmood and Ed Miliband as frontrunners for the role.
