Berliners mourn after deadly terrorist attack at Pride event
“The thoughts we have today are simply: how can anyone attack a festival of tolerance and love like this?”
This is what Katrin D said as she attended a vigil at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate a day after a man allegedly drove a vehicle into crowds near the city’s Pride celebrations and began attacking people with a knife.
One woman was killed and 29 others were injured in what German officials have described as an Islamist terror attack. They confirmed on Sunday evening that the chief suspect, Abdul Ballout, 21, had been shot dead.
