Footage of a dust devil went viral. What is it?
Sunbathers in London’s Greenwich Park were interrupted on Sunday when a spinning column of dust tore across the dried-out grass.

The phenomenon, known as a dust devil, is rarely seen in the UK. Dust devils typically occur in dry places such as deserts when the ground is hot. Air gets pulled into a rotating vortex, picking up dust as it moves.
According to the Met Office, July was the driest month in southern England since records began nearly 200 years ago as drought becomes more common as a result of climate breakdown.
