Murdered woman’s father: Labour’s early release scheme puts my life in danger

Tim Edwards was woken early on Christmas morning 2022 by his son hammering on his front door. “We have to go to the hospital. It’s Elle,” Connor, then 30, told him.

Mr Edwards’s 26-year-old daughter, a dental nurse and beautician who had been celebrating Christmas Eve at a pub, had been shot in the head with a submachine gun.

He believes he covered the 7.6 miles to Arrowe Park Hospital, Birkenhead, in three minutes. Only at her killer’s trial did he learn that his daughter had died instantly.

More than three years later, Thomas Waring – who helped her killer conceal the weapon and destroy evidence – is due to be released in early October, having served just more than a third of his nine-year sentence.
