New footage shows French police slashing a small boat to stop migrants from crossing the Channel.

In the footage shared by the Home Office, people wearing life jackets appeared to retaliate by reaching for the ground and grabbing stones off the beach to throw, as they tried to keep police away from their vessel. The government says the footage highlights the extent of France’s increased efforts to stop small boats since signing a deal with the UK in April.
