Bruce Dickinson reveals how Jersey inspired some of Iron Maiden’s biggest hits
As the lead singer of one of the world’s biggest rock bands, Bruce Dickinson reveals how Iron Maiden’s music has close ties to the Channel Islands.
Despite the band being formed in East London, he says three of their albums, including Piece of Mind and Powerslave, were written in Jersey at a now-defunct hotel near the island’s iconic La Corbière Lighthouse – Bruce even passed his driving test just down the road!
He recalls them taking over the entire hotel and huddling in front of its one TV set during winter, with the wild weather outside helping to set the scene for creating some of Iron Maiden’s biggest hits.
Bruce is back in Jersey as he takes part in the first section of a charity challenge, which will see people row, walk and cycle from the southernmost to the northernmost part of the British Isles.
