Britain was one of the original signatories.<\/p>\n<p>These regulations, Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg explains, \u201cwere a means of returning asylum seekers to another European country, and therefore sharing the burden across the EU and sending them back to the country that they\u2019d come from, other than the obvious entry points\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since our departure from the EU, a growing chorus of voices has repeated the claim that the Dublin Regulation had kept illegal Channel crossings under control.
