  1. I’m sure that’ll get them to change their minds. Don’t bother listening to why they would vote for such a party

  2. Is are much support for AfD in parts of Western Germany? I got the impression they are mostly popular in the Eastern side. I’m curious about where they are mostly receiving support?

  3. People don’t even need a good reason to protest today. We’re all turning into French people

  4. I would expect more people, especially when I take into consideration that we had like 250k against our government in 2019. Hope that those German protests will be bigger and bigger.

  5. “Democracy until those that I don’t like start to democratically get elected”

  6. I’m not sure there’s much overlap between people who care about this sort of protest and people who vote for afd.

  7. The left government and its milieu in society has so many grave problems, that this is probably a welcome break where things seem easy.

  8. People who are saying this is pointless are wrong and even dangerous to anti extremism in Germany.

It is showing to people that there are others with the same world view. That makes people more willing to vote for anti-afd parties. Please go to these demonstration, they do make a real life difference.

  9. While it is nice to see people stand up against fascism it won’t do anything. People voting for AfD won’t change their mind. We had protests against our former prime minister and nothing happened. People still supported him, he didn’t resign. On the contrary he went to be a presidential candidate which he thankfully didn’t win. And while our current government sucks he will most likely win as new prime minister the next time.

  10. In France we were more than 1 million in 2002.

Now the right wing is at 30% and lead the next European voting.
Not sure that 250000 would be enough.

  11. These protests undermine democracy imho

And it’s not even about political ideology, it’s the concept of vocally opposing the will of the majority

What’s the point of these protests? A known left leaning group of people marching on the streets criticising an opposition party. What does it achieve?

AfD meteoric popularity rise is due to poor left wing policies, perhaps starting with those is a more efficient use of time. These protests only encourage AfD votes to increase more, because the left looks idiotic

  12. They gathered to call for the banning of a political party.. while claiming to be against fascism.

    Did I get that right?

  13. Fuck germany. At this point anyone who isnt one of klaus schwabs espionage goons is a designated right wing extremist

  14. People that wouldn’t vote AfD demonstrating. That’s like boycotting a product that they never bought. This changes nothing. The only way to make the afd stop growing is by tackling the issue that feed the afd in the first place.

  15. people in comments: “WELP because of this protest im gonna have to vote for the right wing fascists! i have no choice!”

SOUNDS like you were gonna vote for them anyways u clown, dont try to pretend and make up excuses like all of a sudden its these protests taht made u do it.

    its ridiculous

Not to mention, these same people also whine about how protests do shit all, when they clearly are influencing morons in the comments very much

  16. Good, now as a Turk I can tell my relatives in Germany to relax. Even though we are right-wing and conservative, we use German leftists for our own interests. 80% of Turks in Germany vote for Erdoğan in the elections of Türkiye, he is right-wing and conservative. But in the elections in Germany, the same Turks vote for left-wing parties because they are the only ones smart enough to want our presence in Germany. 😂

  17. So maybe they should do something to encourage AfD voters to vote for another party, instead of pretending that high AfD pools came out of nowhere.

People are fed up with immigration, and if you don’t do anything about it, the right wing will continue to grow, it’s as simple as that.

  18. What’s the point of this?

I mean, protests against the government meant to reach some goals, fulfill demands or apply pressure on them to change politics/ create innate tension if it’s a coalition that can lead to the collapse of the government and new elections.

Protests against… Against what? The politicians of the opposition, the people who vote for them, their ideas? What are they expecting to happen? I’m really happy that they have time for this, a bit of social fun in the fresh air, but the only achievement of this is… I’m not even sure. I would say a double check “seen” from the afd supporters side, but probably it’s just the single check “delivered” because they don’t even care about this.

  19. Germany need to adress the problem then people wont vote for AfD, they did it in Denmark so they can do it in Germany.

  20. Its weird how people demonstrate against democracy instead of becoming the better alternative. Free elections are a marketplace of ideas. If AfD isnt worth voting for, people wont. Trying to get them banned just makes the country less democratic and proves their point.
