I recently began a part-time job (20 hours) as an international student. In the first month's invoice, I noticed a deduction of 85 euros for health insurance (Krankenversicherung), although I already have health insurance through TK. Does this mean I have to pay for double health insurance until I work, or can I request an exemption? Additionally, the deduction for pension insurance (Rentenversicherung) is 109 euros. Since I don't intend to stay in Germany long-term (also not a werk student contract), am I required to pay for pension insurance, or can I be exempted?

Check with your HR if you are registered as working student and not employee with the health insurance. The insurance will reimburse you the money then.
O you cannot opt out of pension contributions but can get them back if you move out of Germany before staying 5 years (or paying 5 years I am not sure).
