The absurd England flag debate proves we will never get politics out of football

  1. The problem is that it’s being turned political with these mindless articles.

Nobody is bothered because it “slightly resembles” the LGBTQ colours, that isn’t the problem.

It’s meant to be a red cross and it’s been changed for absolutely no reason. It’s not in tribute to the 66 teams training kit either or whatever excuse they pulled because the black kit has completely different colours on the cross again.

Why has Nike done it? We don’t know but it shouldn’t be a problem for it to be asked to be changed back.

It’s just a pointless change, albeit not the end of the world, but either side of the political spectrum can’t help frothing at the mouth for a potential right/left agenda argument.

Will it stop me buying it? No, the £125 price tag will however.

  2. It shouldn’t have been changed. You can argue that fans make alterations to the flag or attach stuff to it on their banners, but the players who are representing the country in an international competitive event aren’t wearing those flags. If the flag of the nation is going to be altered for people who are representing the country, I’d say that the people of the country need to give their consent for that to happen.

  3. “It’s just a flag”. Ok but what team are you playing for? What country are you representing? Imagine if Japanese flag was blue? It doesn’t represent Japan anymore does it? Want be hip and with the times and act like you give a fuck? Put another badge somewhere else and leave the England flag. It’s an England kit ffs. What’s so hard to understand?
