  1. I agree that people take outrage too far on certain things but I really don’t think being an actor in something entitles you to a free pass to be/do anything you want on film.

  2. It’s not illegal. If it’s SO important to someone, they should do it. And they should have no problem discussing it with people who don’t like it, since this is SUCH an important issue for actors. Stand up for your beliefs, play other races, yuck it up! Show us what you’ve got. And enjoy the discourse with the community of people you are portraying. They’ll have lots to say. Then you can go on Bill Maher’s show and complain about it.

  3. He’s honestly not wrong, especially when he says: “…you don’t go through life feeling like, ‘I’m a victim.’ I refuse to go through life saying to the world, ‘I’m pissed off.’ I’m not gonna be pissed off 24 hours a day.”

Countless people these days live their entire lives wearing the victim badge, and recently it’s been pretty beneficial, and that’s why the backlash isn’t entirely unjust.

  4. This is dumb. Actors literally can do blackface. What is he saying though, Actors should be free from criticism for doing blackface?

  5. Blackface is historically tied to racist minstrel shows. There is 0 reason for an actor to use black face when you can just …. hire a black actor

  6. It all depends on context. Mac dressing as Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon 5. Great. Jimmy Fallon in blackface doing Chris Rock. No.

  7. If the role needs them to they already can, see RDJ in Tropic Thunder. But if the role is a black person why wouldnt we just hire a black person? Saves on the makeup time and costs too

  8. Best blackface of all time was RDJ in Tropic Thunder. Actually, I can’t think of any other instance where I felt it was ok………..

  9. The take is controversial, but the explanation makes sense. He said it in a way that may not be viewed as politically correct, but he clearly doesn’t care about that. Huh

  10. An actor sells the role. Period. They can be blue for all I care. Need to see more roles who’s skin is red like Tim curry in legend.

  11. The hated him because he was right. There can never be a race swapped sequel to white chicks if we don’t allow black face

  12. Just saw the fallon bit, that was funny as hell. He was imitating Chris Rock, so what. Who would be offended if Leslie Jones did an imitation of a white celebrity? If an.actor does a good impression of someone let them do it, no harm no foul. Performing racist stereotypes is another story…don’t be that person.
