This is my very early draft on my January winter travel plan. It is very early and I’ve come to you fine folks for advice and suggestions on how to properly correct my plan.
Essentially the purpose of this trip is seeing the views, skiing, seeing the aurora as well as several other activities we can get up to, It’s going to be a 3 or 4 man group.
We wish to hire a car for this journey and I wish to ask how realistic that is, as you can see. It’s an insane amount of driving.
I wish to be clear, these are somewhat placeholder landmarks, it’s most likely that stops are to be made along the way to stay the night in a place or to do some activity if they’re available, sightseeing and what not.
As for the skiing aspect, that is to take place in the North. However, we’re unsure of which is the best places to go skiing. I picked out 1 on Lofoten as well as the one in Tromso.
Which of these would you pick as the more appealing ski resort or do you suggest doing both, how long do you usually recommend staying at a ski resort for?
So, assuming we manage to do skiing as well as other activities, touristy stuff and sightseeing. We’ll be making our way to the Northern most point just as a final moral achievement sort of thing.
After that the plan is to make our way back to Oslo as I hear renting a car is cheaper if you bring it back to the original place.
Now I haven’t plotted a route for the way back yet, we could come back the same way we came or we could venture through Sweden or other new routes we didn’t already follow.
I think just as a spot on the way back we intend to hit up is the intersection border point of Norway, Sweden, Finland as I think that’d be quite neat to achieve as well.
Alright, in summary. This is a very early draft with much needed room for improvement, what is your advice when it comes to skiing destinations, winter activities, general sightseeing, what locations to stop at along the way, car rental and how realistic that is. Picture if you were planning this trip. How would you go about doing it to make it as efficient, realistic and as decently cost effective.
By all means criticise my plan, having never been to Norway before this plan may come off as ridiculous and it most likely is honestly but I’m coming for your advice, expertise and recommendations.
