That’s a very human reaction for the shooter. Our subconscious focuses on the physical threat (the weapon,) and tries to eliminate it. Happens in policing often enough to be considered common in shootings.

What are they doing? Trench defense?
Did that guy die? And when it switched cameras, did that guy say “is dead”?
