What are the ACTUAL requirements for drilltroppen?

When sesjon comes up I want to join drilltroppen, however there is simply no way the minimum requirements are what people who get in actually fulfill. Surely, it is WAY higher than the ones stated right? According to forsvaret.no, you only have to do 8 pull ups, a 2.3 m standing long jump, a 4.8 medicine ball throw and the ability to run 3000 meters in 13 minutes.

For such a unit, these feats seem outrageously easy to accomplish. So what do you actually have to be able to do to get in?

  1. Keep in mind that:

    a) Those are the **minimum** requirements

    b) You have to compete with everyone else who wants to serve the same unit, and against everyone else who are selected as *aspirant*

    c) They are selecting on other criteria, including an interview, as well – there is a lot more to being in the *drilltropp* than being able to lift a lot and run far.

  2. Just need to point out that *minimum requirements* just means that anyone who can’t do those things are automatically disqualified from serving there, it doesn’t mean anyone who are above those metrics gets a spot. The ones that actually get in are likely far beyond the minimum requirements in their abilities.

I don’t have any inside info, but my guess is that the the actual requirement to get in depends on the abilities of all the other applicants of that year. If they have 100 spots open, you have to be among the 100 best of that year to get a spot.

  3. IIRC, the main requirement is that you are motivated to practice, practice, drill, and practice some more. The physical requirements are standard for everyone.

There may be additional requirements if you want to join the marching band.
