  1. I’m happy to have this or any other technology in our toolbox, but I’m left feeling astounded that we could ever build – let alone sustainably operate – enough such sites to offset the staggering quantities of carbon dioxide we emit every day.

  2. We have to start somewhere. Eventually these machines will get stronger, more energy efficient and smaller.

And if it doesn’t work, that’s data too. We can move on to the next project that could work.

I get all the doom and gloom in climate news and awareness is important, but doing something with that knowledge is even better!

  3. When your house is flooding it’s useful to grab a bucket but you should probably turn off the tap too 🙄

  4. This is not energy efficient enough to do anything but serve as an excuse to delay change… which is its actual purpose.

  5. If you’re going to do carbon capture why not stick the nozzle on the end of a natural gas power plant? Seems like you can would have greater efficiency.

  6. For our next trick we’re going address cleaning a landfill by sending out a volunteer using a picker and an empty trash bag.

  7. This is a scam.

“Mammoth will be able to pull 36,000 tons of carbon from the atmosphere a year at full capacity, according to Climeworks. That’s equivalent to taking around 7,800 gas-powered cars off the road for a year”

The ipcc says we need to pull 16B tons of co2 annually but 2050. Or another 440k of these plants.

    Thats 17k plants a year until 2050.

  8. This is classic capitalism, create a problem then sell the solution. Best and most efficient is to reduce excess unnecessary CO2 and methane emissions and preserve and expand carbon capture vegetation.
