Good for them. It’s a bit hypocritical of other countries, in particular Europeans, to criticize that when they developed their own economies by destroying their nature. More than 90% of Europe’s original forest coverage is long gone, but you don’t keep hearing about that.
If other countries truly care about keeping the forests intact, they should pay Brazil the exact amount they receive selling beef to the World. That’s not a small amount.

My family ditched beef and cow products recently. Just hard to enjoy when a simple dietary decision leads to so much destruction of our environment. It actually hasn’t been so hard over a month of slight adjustments.

Beef production is just a facade for the expansion of the agricultural border, they use cattle to occupy and mark the lands as theirs for it not to be invaded by the landless movement
Brazil interestingly has not expanded their agricultural land use in decades, which means that cattle ranching and feed production is being pushed into the Amazon by other factors, not expanding into it.
It’s remarkably brain dead to just look at the front lines of deforestation and determine causation. The only thing we can actually determine through the cited research is that pasture and feed production is moving into Amazonia. It doesn’t look at what is driving that move.
The rest of the world should stop importing Brazilian beef
It’s one of those things, I love me some beef and read meat, but the whole world would be much better off if we all just collectively ate a bit less of it instead of eating it on a near daily basis.
