Not a surpirse its a pretty unpopular use of money in most countries and very few are rich enough to do it anymore.
Surprise me quite a bit as a swede. If I was to guess from The headlines i get from our politicians is that our foreign aid has decreased. So im Happy to see this!
It has been reduced in many countries as a consequence of the economic situation.
In the European case, it often has been reduced to finance extra defense plus many refugee costs are actually accounting wise typically included in ODA. Iirc, this is limited to 12 months, so less refugees lower ODA
That US drop is huge considering how large their GDP is compared to the others.
So many more deaths because of this
But wait I thought foreign aid was a no brainer for soft power? And it’s stupid to cut aid since everyone else would gladly seize US soft power? What happened?
