I’m searching for a Swedish folk song which inspired a Hungarian Christmas song
December 13, 2022
There is a Hungarian Christmas song from 1994 and its description says that it’s originally a non-Christmas themed Swedish folk song but I can’t find the original. Anybody recognises it?
This post showed me that half of Sweddit is tonedeaf lol, sadly I don’t think I’ve heard the song that may have inspired this.
It sounds like “Sparven om julmorgonen”, a Swedish poem https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparven_om_julmorgonen. It also exists in Finnish ”Varpunen jouluaamuna” https://youtu.be/9BmoafN_nGo. The poem has been made into a song several times, and someone mentioned ”en gång i bredd med mig” which seems to be a version of the original

I’m unfortunately absolute shite at these kind of things, but the only song I can think of is “trollmors vaggvisa” which is like a lullaby.
What does Hungary Finland and Estonia have in common?
Pale skin and strange noise coming from the mouth!?
I can’t find an resemblance to any songs that I know. Can it be the lyrics rather than the music that has a swedish origin? What is the song about?

Never heard anything like this
Nope, do not recognize. It does have a certain nordic tone to it though. Hints of Garmarna, Hedningarna, Irmelin, Ranarim, Sorkar & Strängar, Triakel.
Asked my mother, she normally performs well at melodikrysset. 🙂
Well I mean don’t know if it’s swedish, but we have a very similar christmas song https://youtu.be/LMieLEXdjss
