Hello fellow nordics, Im considering doing motorcycle trip like this with my friends in july. Do you have any advices about what to do and see along this route? What are some good mountains to climb? Should we consider going more south along the coastline?

You should absolutely go a bit further south. You’re missing out of one of the most beautiful places in Norway: https://visithelgeland.com/en/places/the-helgeland-coast/
When Driving across “Andøya” in “Vesterålen”, do take the road on the west coast of the island. It’s the scenic route. There is a road (fv974) you can take from “Risøysund” just after the bridge to the island.
Just make sure to check the ferry schedules, cuz missing a ferry will cost you half a day of waiting.

Like half of the best hikes in norway are pretty much on that route
The more south you go the more variety in natural beauty you will see.
As for mountain climbing/hiking this site has a map tool that can show trails and terrain steepness. [Ut.no](https://ut.no/#3.92/64.1/11.34)
Many good pieces of advice here. I’ll chip in with this:
[Reis Nordland](https://www.reisnordland.no/) – route planner, prices and schedules for ferrys and boats in Nordland.
I would definently advice you to give Alstahaug and The Seven Sisters a try. If you are big into mountains, Dønna and Dønnamannen is a nice place to go. Also, Torghatten is mandatory. If you do this, then you can enter Sweden through Grane and Hattfjelldal, a bit further south than through Mo i Rana. I am guessing 150 extra km and two to four more ferries, depending on where you want to detour. Some ferries are free, some are not. Tjøtta – Forvik which you will need is free.
Grytøya is a very nice fishing island sutch as grøtavær
I think just taking that trip will be enough. Great choice of route and a lot of beautiful places to see and experience along the way!
