Nearly three years waiting for an inquest is outrageous. Families shouldn’t be left in limbo like this, especially after a traumatic loss. The “radio silence” from the coroner’s office just shows how unfit for purpose the system is right now. You can’t call it a functioning service when people are waiting years for basic answers. Reform is grand on paper, but it’s no use to the families stuck in this backlog today.

There was an article on the radio with a senior coroner. Apparently this has been on the cards since 2020 and it is only going to get worse because no action is being taken to change the situation. This is in league with the lack of autopsies which is hindering the situation. Hey but we have a budget surplus, Mexican Wave, our government is Great.
