Hello dear people of Slovakia.

Me and my girlfriend plan on hitting the Tatra's mountains trails in early September, I have built this trek and have some questions from locals or people that hike a lot in the area.

We plan on spending two nights on the trail.

(this is the link to the trek itself https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/custom-route-tatranska-magistrala-ada7ae2?u=m&sh=y00cjp )

Day 1: Sleep in Ždiar and hike to Zelené pleso (12.2 KM)

Day 2 : from Zelené pleso hike to Velické pleso (16.5 KM)

Day 3 : from Velické pleso hike to Štrbské pleso (15 KM)

  • How hard is the hike? I have done a couple hut to hut hikes but nowhere close to this much elevation gain, and my girlfriend has never done multi-day hikes.
  • How's the weather like in early September? Is there snow?
  • Are there parts of the hike with metal bars/ladders/ropes for support?
  • What eSIM / SIM card would you recommend for this part of the country?
  • How's the transport around this area, are buses of trains frequent and abundant?
  • How's the wildlife there? heard some people warn about wolfs and bears.

  1. Wolves in the Tatras aren’t dangerous. But bears can be. It’s a good idea to make some noise so that a bear has time to notice you in advance. It’s also a good idea to carry bear spray with you as a last resort. The Tatras are beautiful; you’ll love them.
