Mercedes-Benz India has added a new flagship to its luxury line-up, with the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e 4MATIC, its first plug-in hybrid Maybach for the Indian market.

Priced at ₹3.35 crore, the limousine will be available in just 30 units, making exclusivity very much part of the package. The S 580e combines Maybach’s familiar focus on craftsmanship and rear-seat comfort with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers 585 hp and 750 Nm. The car can travel up to 98 km on electric power under WLTP testing, with Mercedes-Benz estimating around 100 km in real-world conditions. It can also reach up to 140 km/h in electric mode, while the petrol engine provides the flexibility for longer journeys.

For the rear-seat passenger, the S 580e is designed more like a private lounge than a conventional car. The India-spec model comes exclusively with a four-seat configuration, executive rear seats, a full-length business console, wireless charging and temperature-controlled cup holders. There is also a Burmester 4D sound system with 31 speakers, eight exciters and 1,610 watts of output. The luxury treatment extends to the details, including MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather, piano lacquer trim, illuminated Maybach badging and logo projection. Technology includes MB.OS, MBUX, a 3D driver display, augmented reality navigation, Digital Light and Level 2 driver assistance features. Underneath all that, the S 580e gets a 3.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a 9G-TRONIC transmission. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 250 km/h. The car supports charging at up to 11 kW AC and 60 kW DC, with Mercedes-Benz also offering a complimentary home charging solution. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said the company is seeing rising demand for plug-in hybrids among its top-end customers and that the S 580e brings together Maybach’s handcrafted luxury with the flexibility of electrified mobility.

With the launch, Mercedes-Benz is now offering Indian luxury buyers a choice across ICE, BEV and PHEV powertrains, with the Maybach S 580e sitting firmly at the most indulgent end of that spectrum.
