Looks like someone has finally stolen Bryan Johnson’s biometrically optimized heart. On Tuesday, the 48-year-old billionaire biohacker announced he’s dating Kate Tolo, the 30-year-old co-founder of his longevity start-up, Blueprint. “Guys … I have a girlfriend,” Johnson wrote in a 1,300-word post on X that doubles as a great reason to bring back the 280-character limit. “Now I know what you’re thinking … how is it possible that anyone would want to be with me?” he continued. “I understand where you’re coming from. I think the answer is: her puzzle piece fits mine.”
Johnson said he and Tolo have been in a relationship for three years now but held off on announcing it publicly until they were sure it was the real deal. Apparently, they met a few years earlier, when she started working at his neurotechnology company, Kernel, and the connection was immediately “effortless” but they initially kept things professional. Things apparently started changing after she dropped by his office one evening and they “talked for hours,” after which their “after-hours meet-ups in my office became a daily ritual.” It was around this time that they teamed up to co-found Blueprint, Johnson said, and neither of them “dared take the next step,” not wanting “to imperil our work relationship.” But after going on like this for a while, Johnson said he broached the subject. “Unable to withstand any longer, after a year and a half of unspoken affection, one night I softly floated the balloon of inquiry,” he said. “She confirmed it was reciprocal.”
In his post, Johnson was effusive about his relationship with Tolo, saying she “feels like land to me after being adrift and searching for 25 years” and that he trusts her “as much as my mother” — quite the choice of phrasing. He also heaped praise on her for her role in Blueprint, saying she’s the “unsung hero” of the company. “Our minds have become so intertwined that life feels naked without her,” he said.
Talk about a hard launch. Johnson has previously said he’s not the easiest person to date owing to his strict anti-aging regime, which includes not eating after 11 a.m. and going to bed at 8:30 p.m., so I guess those after-hours conversations had to wrap up pretty early. Anyway, good luck to these two. I guess age really is just a number when you’re trying to live forever.
