Suzanne Kane has spoken about the daily habits that keep her feeling good inside and out.
At a time when people may be trying to start a massive overhaul of their lifestyle, the broadcaster has praised two very simple things with improving her life.
Walking and practising gratitude have become two non-negotiables to keep her mental health at its best.
“My one hundred percent non-negotiable is what I call my stupid mental health walk,” Suzanne told RSVP Magazine. “The word stupid is a contradiction, because it’s the opposite of stupid, it’s ironic. But the reason I call it stupid is because I argue with myself about it – I’m like, ‘oh my God I have to go and walk around the park’. But I tried to walk every single day last February and March and I’ve kept it up.
“It’s not for fitness or anything like that, it’s quite literally for my mental wellbeing. Sticking maybe a podcast in your ears, or sometimes just walking around and getting fresh air no matter what the weather. Maybe seeing someone in the park and just nodding to them. To me, it’s something so, so stupid but so, so effective. I really had to change my mindset and be like, I get to do this, not that I have to do this.”
She added: “I’ve very heavily leaned into gratitude as part of just mentally keeping myself well. I love The Head Plan and journaling. But sometimes your mind is so busy, you feel like what do I have to be grateful for? But it’s just the most basic stuff. For me, I am so grateful that I get out to go for my stupid mental health walk everyday, I’m so grateful that I have a cup of tea to walk around with.”
There are some other habits that Suzanne is trying to implement into her daily life.
“I’ve tried to start drinking water; I hate water,” she laughed. “And I’m trying to be better with my skin. I go to Dr. Edel in ORA Skin Clinic and she’s amazing. So 2026 is just about trying to give my skin the best chance. I have three small kids, and to me my skin routine used to be washing my face. But they’re getting a little bit older and we’re all finding our feet.
“And I’m trying to build up my health. I’m 45 and perimenopause is coming in thick and fast, so I’m trying to build up my joint health and my bone health.”
