Sheffield Circle of Magicians is looking for new members. Established in 1920, the club provides a space for magicians local to Sheffield to meet, share ideas, practice their magic and learn. They are holding a special audition night on Thursday, April, 23, 2026 from 7.30pm at The Old Queen’s Head.
In the past year, the club has expanded significantly, holding more events planned than ever before, with the largest membership numbers it’s had for a long time. The club also hosts an annual public show ‘A Night of Magic’ and a competition night for its members.
At the core of the club is lecture nights, where well-known magic creators and performers, visit and teach their tricks.
Are you a magician living in Sheffield, South Yorkshire or the surrounding areas? Would you like to learn and share ideas with other magicians? Are you passionate about magic and bringing more magic to your local community?

Whether you are a total beginner or an advanced professional, the circle is open to magicians of any skill level, performance style or personal background, aged 16 or older. The criteria is that you care about the art of magic…oh and keep the methods secret!
Club President Luke Robson said: “Auditions are an important part of joining the club, every member has done one. It shouldn’t be scary, it’s a case of sharing your magic with others. Although we’d love to meet the next Dynamo or Derren Brown the most important thing is that members care about magic and are passionate about what they do”
“April is the start of our 2026/27 season (our 106th year) and we are hosting this audition night as our first event so prospective new members can benefit from the full year’s programme of events.”
