Five people have been arrested and 25 crimes detected during a three-day police crackdown on illegal and dangerous e-bike use.
Police have made arrests in a major clampdown on dangerous and illegal e-bike use.
Officers carried out a series of “patrols and intelligence led activities” in the Elgin area between Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 23.
An off-road bike and three e-scooters were seized in a joint effort by the Moray Community Investigation Unit, Road Policing Unit and Air Support Unit.
Two youths will be reported to the relevant authorities in connection with the off-road bike offence.
Three men will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the e-scooters.
Stops and searches also resulted in one woman being given a Recorded Police Warning in connection with a drug offence, while another man was reported in connection with a drug offence.
Sergeant Michelle MacDonald said: “We are aware of community concerns relating to the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters and we will not hesitate to take enforcement action to deal with this kind of crime.
“These three days of activities were also part of ongoing work to educate the public and road users.
“Using illegal or modified bikes can pose a risk to riders, pedestrians and other road users and we would urge anyone using one to make sure it complies with the law.
“The public has an important role when it comes to this kind of crime and anyone with information or concerns should contact us on 101.”
