Sanya Malhotra’s fitness trainer, Tridev Pandey, recently spoke about the actor setting a “small goal” of three months for her latest film, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. “She weighed 56 kilos. Sanya works out regularly and eats simple, home-cooked food. Then we gave ourselves a goal of three months. Weight loss and fat loss. Along with that, we decided to achieve some goals, develop some movement and skills,” Pandey said in an Instagram video.

Sharing details, he added: “So, we started learning pull-ups. During this journey, we performed a variety of exercises, including toe push-ups, full range of motion exercises, and handstands. Whenever you are going through a transformation, be sure to set small goals and acquire new skills. The world is obsessed with weight loss, but if you learn something new, maybe you can definitely achieve something more.”

In snippets from the video post, Sanya can be seen performing bodyweight exercises, including push-ups, supported handstands, and pull-ups. While Pandey didn’t mention the three-month results, it is noteworthy that Sanya learnt pull-ups, which require tremendous strength in the entire body.

So, we turned to an expert to learn the relevance of understanding fitness as an evolving practice.

While celebrity fitness transformations often focus on rapid physical change, consultant dietitian Kanikka Malhotra stressed that Sanya’s commitment to continuous skill development, ranging from strength training to dynamic activities, illustrates a deeper understanding that fitness is an evolving practice, “not a quick fix”.

“This approach fosters resilience, prevents burnout, and supports long-term well-being beyond the screen,” said Malhotra.

Equally noteworthy is her embrace of “ghar ka khana, favouring nutritious, home-cooked meals that ground her health in familiar, wholesome traditions rather than transient diet trends”, said Malhotra.

“In a world obsessed with glamorising extreme fitness, Sanya’s story critiques the fleeting nature of celebrity fitness and instead champions a sustainable, culturally relevant path that prioritises holistic health, genuine progress, and lasting impact,” said Malhotra.
