Coronation Street spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (8 August), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Coronation Street has hinted that Aadi Alahan will be heading off to India in his final storyline.

The surprising news is revealed in Friday’s episode, as disapproving dad Dev threatens to turn his back on Aadi following his recent mistakes.

The latest visit to Weatherfield follows a difficult day for Aadi, as he finally confesses to his girlfriend Lauren Bolton about being responsible for her accidental spiking.

Lauren is disgusted over Aadi’s admission – it’s clear that she’s trusted the wrong guy. Things only get worse when Lauren finds out Aadi’s reasons for turning to drugs at the midsummer party – he wanted to forget about his strong feelings for Amy Barlow.

Later, Dev is also brought into the picture when his shamed son tells him all about his recent mistakes.

Much to Aadi’s horror, Dev no longer wants him on the cobbles and is calling on some family support to sort his life out…

“I’ve really failed you, haven’t I? Clearly I have. And that’s why all this has to change,” Dev explains.

“I’ve rung my cousin Vikram – and he has offered to set you up with a job in India. It’s time, so let’s draw this line in the sand.

“I’m empowering you, okay? Make a new life for yourself. Stand on your own two feet.”

Aadi tries to protest that he won’t be moving to India, but Dev firmly replies: “I can’t support you anymore. You’ve left me with no choice.”

Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi, announced in April that he’d be leaving Coronation Street after five years.

“As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures,” Adam said.

“Over the five years I’ve spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little.”

He added: “I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!

“This isn’t a farewell for Aadi, however, more like a see you later! I’m excited to see what the future brings!”
