Coronation Street’s Jenny Connor offers her cleaning services to George Shuttleworth next week, only to find out that he’s turned to Christina Boyd for help instead. How will Jenny cope with her love rival winning George’s attention?

When Jenny invites George to join her for lunch, the undertaker lets her down gently by insisting that he needs to sweep up the funeral parlour.

Eager to please, Jenny turns up at Shuttleworth’s with her mop in hand, but she’s less than impressed with what – or should we say, who – she finds…

Jenny fancies the pants off George,” our Corrie source explains. “She sees a doting, kind man who would treat her with love and respect, which is something she hasn’t come by too frequently in her life.

“She thinks that turning up in her cleaning gear will get her in George’s good books, but it becomes very awkward when she sees Christina standing there ready to get things spick and span, too!”

Donning rubber gloves and a tabard, Jenny discovers that George called on Christina, so there’s no need for her to hang around. With nothing left to say, Jenny decides to leave George and Christina to themselves.

“Jenny must be so hurt,” our insider adds. “She obviously has her eyes set on George, but it’s an extra kick in the teeth that he’s growing closer to Christina, of all people.”

With her feelings for George clearly not reciprocated, will Jenny continue to pine over him? And if so, will she try to snatch him from Christina?

The scenes come as Corrie continues to build up to Jenny’s departure from Weatherfield.

Sally Ann Matthews, who played Jenny, announced at the start of August that she was leaving after 10 years back as the popular character. She has already filmed her final scenes.

“I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra 10 years because I loved it so much,” Sally Ann shared on Instagram.

“It’s time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I’d ‘grown up’. Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
