Coronation Street is set to air a dramatic twist to Asha’s abuse storyline as her attacker goes viral.

Last month, Asha starred in a special episode that followed her on a shift as a paramedic. But she was pushed to breaking point after trying to help Naomi, who in return subjected her to racist abuse.

In scenes set to air next week, we see things take a surprising twist as Asha faces Naomi again. Bernie has been worried about Asha and voices her concerns to Dev, who admits she’s been spending a lot of time in her room.

To try and cheer her up, Dev persuades Asha to come to lunch at the hotel, but Asha is shaken when she comes across Naomi, who is there for a careers fair. She reminds Naomi of how she was only trying to help her when she was drunk, but in return was abused and spat on.

Naomi claims to not remember what happened and warns Asha against making allegations, leaving Asha running home in terms.

She tells Bernie about her run-in with Naomi, who heads out and confides in Dev that, according to Kit, it’ll be difficult to bring charges against Naomi as there’s no evidence except for Asha’s word.

Heading back to the careers fair at the hotel, Bernie finds Naomi’s laptop, clicks on the first slide and is horrified by what she sees.

As Naomi takes to the stage to speak, Bernie explains to the shocked audience how Naomi abused Asha, while Nina and Amy film what’s happening on their phones.

The video is uploaded and causes a scene and, after Asha sees it, she tells Bernie she’s upset at her for interfering. Naomi then barges into No. 7 and announces she’s suing Bernie for defamation.

“Bernie means well, but she’s made a major error by going ahead with her revenge plan without consulting Asha first,” our Corrie source explains.

“The last thing Asha wanted is this extra attention and she preferred to handle the situation in her own way. But with the battle now on, will she stand up to Naomi?”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
