It’s the 10th annual Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival, and this weekend, San Antonio is invited to celebrate! Ashley Bird joined us to share all the exciting details about this free event happening Saturday, October 18th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pecan Grove at Brackenridge Park, near the zoo entrance.
Presented by Blooming with Birdie and Project Bloom, in partnership with the Brackenridge Park Conservancy, the festival is a vibrant celebration of curiosity, compassion, and environmental awareness.
Why the monarch butterfly? San Antonio is a Monarch Champion City, and the butterfly itself is a “gateway bug,” helping people understand the importance of all pollinators.
What makes this event special? Over 50 mission-aligned partners are coming together to offer immersive experiences like a monarch migration obstacle course, educational booths, and hands-on activities.
Want to help monarchs thrive? Come to the festival! Learn how to plant native species, reduce pesticide use, and create pollinator-friendly spaces at home.
What to expect:
- Family-friendly fun and interactive learning
- Costumes and a party-like atmosphere
- Quiet spaces for reflection
- Music, food, and more
Whether you’re a nature lover, a curious learner, or just looking for a fun day out, the Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival is the perfect way to connect with your community and the environment.
