Meanwhile, it’s not just Abi who should be wary of Carl, as recent episodes have seen him trying to steal money off his sister Debbie in order to pay off his debts. After suggesting her dementia was impacting her work, Carl landed a job at the hotel and tried in vain to get access to the business accounts.

This week, cunning Carl sets another plan into motion to get his hands on the cash by getting Debbie out of the way. He convinces her that she booked a holiday – which he claims she forgot about – and insists he will manage the accounts while she’s gone.

After stealing his brother’s wife, will Carl also successfully scam his sister?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
