A ShopRite location in Livingston debuted a kosher section last week that’s 50% larger than previously offered at the supermarket.
The expanded kosher section includes such frozen foods as blintzes and matzo ball soup; an array of kosher meats including beef, lamb, brisket and veal; a kosher deli and prepared foods like knishes, sushi and kugel; kosher seafood including Faroe Island salmon and Atlantic flounder; and kosher dairy featuring cheeses, spreads, herring and desserts.
The new kosher section increased from 65 feet to more than 150 feet, expanding from a selection of 800 kosher items to more than 1,500 food items.

The ShopRite is operated by Village Super Market, which has 29 locations across New Jersey and is part of a grocery cooperative known as Wakefern Food Corp. This ShopRite is located at 483 South Livingston Ave. in Livingston.
There are roughly 12 million kosher customers in the U.S., according to data from Star-K, an organization that certifies kosher foods.
As of 2022, New Jersey had roughly 626,000 Jewish residents, which is about 6.7% of its population, according to the Berman Jewish Data Bank, which is run by the Jewish Federations of North America.
