Coronation Street and Waterloo Road star Liam Scholes has shared a positive update after going through a bit of an ordeal while on holiday in Egypt with his girlfriend Roisin Riley.

The actor, who played Eli Higginson on Corrie and currently plays Noel McManus on the BBC One school drama, revealed earlier in the week that he had been attacked by a monkey while enjoying his time abroad.

Yesterday, the actor shared an Instagram Story revealing that he had to make another hospital trip in Hurghada before he was allowed to leave.

“Back to the hospital before flying home!!” he wrote. “I promise you guys I am safe and well! Will update and give you the story when I’m home!”

He followed that up with another Story of himself and Roisin about to board the plane to head home.

Earlier in the week, he explained that he “nearly got killed by a monkey in the desert” and was placed on an IV drip.

“Liam Scholes doesn’t have the same monkey [appeal] as the rest of the Scholes clan. Monkey 1, Liam 0,” he wrote.

He thanked girlfriend Roisin for being his “very own lifesaver” and promised he’d tell the full story in an Instagram Reel at some point.

Liam was only a cast member on Corrie for a few months in 2021, with his character being a friend of the evil Corey Brent who gave false testimony during the investigation into Seb Franklin’s death.

He later joined Waterloo Road as Noel, a jokey student who wasn’t very good at anything academic, but has a talent and passion for music, as well as for cooking.

The character recently became a kitchen assistant at the school, which meant that he had to hide his relationship with other half Stace Neville, who is still a student.

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX, while Waterloo Road airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
