Emmerdale spoilers follows.
Emmerdale has aired an iconic epilogue in the battle between greedy Dr Crowley and Kim Tate, with the Home Farm matriarch coming out on top in a double crossing twist.
As the village was mourning Nate Robinson on his funeral, Joe Tate had something else on his mind.
Last week, Crowley managed to get his hands on Joe’s fortune after kidnapping him and threatening to undo his kidney transplant. Now, Joe had reluctantly been helping Crowley to con Kim out of her money, pushing her to invest in a solar panel company.
In tonight’s hourlong episode, Kim sensed Joe had been on edge and checked in on him.

As Joe was secretly considering a one-way ticket to Buenos Aires, Kim offered him a “non judgemental ear” but also reiterated she didn’t intend to invest.
As she was speaking, a tormented Joe was holding the tranquilliser injection Crowley had given him so he could immobilise Kim, conflicted about whether to follow the villain’s orders.
Later on, Crowley and thug Shaun turned up at the house convinced that Joe had drugged Kim. Pressured by the surgeon, Joe said he couldn’t use violence on Kim to force her to share her bank details, leaving Crowley to do the dirty work.
Crowley rushed upstairs, being revealed as Kim’s mystery man, Eddie.

Joe warned Kim that Eddie wasn’t “even his real name,” with the surgeon being exposed as a scammer who got close to Kim to get her money.
As he readied to use his set of scalpels on Kim, she told him: “I’d rather die than give anything to you.”
Crowley proceeded to grab a blade. As soon as he held it against Kim, she seemingly caved to his requests.
However, Kim’s weakened state was just an act. She waited for Crowley to lean over just close enough so she could inject him with his own tranquilliser.
A stunned Crowley asked her what she was doing, with Kim standing up rapidly and coldly replying: “Just giving you a taste of your medicine.”
A confused Crowley ordered Shaun to step in, but the thug announced he was now working for Joe, again.
“They pay better,” he simply said.
As Crowley collapsed on the bed, Kim reminded him who was boss.

“I haven’t worked my own life for some weak little man to come and steal every penny I own,” she told him.
Crowley said he’d held onto evidence incriminating Joe for his past crimes, but Joe insisted he was bluffing.
Kim wasn’t going to let Crowley intimidate her. She told Shaun to extract the details of the doctor’s deposit box from him with whatever means necessary.
She insisted Shaun use extra care to ensure Crowley was never to mess with them again.
“If you even try, they’ll never find your body,” she told the doctor.
Later on, Joe apologised to Kim for lying to her.
“I didn’t have a choice,” he said to an unimpressed Kim.
Despite Joe’s insistences that he’d only been trying to protect Kim, it was clear she didn’t trust him.
“I’m sorry Joe, but I’m struggling to believe a single word you say anymore,” she said before leaving.

In the final scenes, Kim resented Joe for bringing Crowley in her life.
“This is all on me, and I’m so sorry,” Joe said, but Kim still seemed on the fence about him.
“Now we’re back at square one,” she said, with Joe promising he’d work hard to earn back her trust.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
