SAN ANTONIO – A Mississippi man accused of killing his co-worker and hiding the body was sentenced to 38 years behind bars on Monday.
Colin Christian King was found guilty of murdering Shane Bourret, a Georgia worker who disappeared while in San Antonio in 2019.
According to court records, King and Bourret were co-workers who rented property together. Bourret went missing in early May of that year, and his wife in Georgia told deputies King had threatened her husband.
Investigators later discovered a threatening voicemail reportedly left by King. An arrest report also shows King texted his boss, saying he would “end” Bourret if he saw him.
A witness told deputies King FaceTimed her to show Bourret’s body and asked for her help. Text messages between King and another man, Donald Barber, were also uncovered, in which the two discussed how to dispose of a body. Barber was later arrested and admitted to helping conceal the remains.
Bourret’s body was eventually found inside a container buried along North San Felipe Avenue.
King was arrested in Mississippi and extradited to Bexar County, where he faced charges of murder and tampering with evidence.
