Public service announcement or Donald Trump propaganda? • FRANCE 24 English
The White House calls them public service announcements – like those used in past administrations. Almost everyone else doesn’t agree, with three taxpayer-funded advertisements that glorify President Donald Trump drawing criticism from across the partisan divide. Legal experts say the ads violate federal laws on government propaganda, as France 24’s Emerald Maxwell explains in this edition of Truth or Fake.

It seems to be an international phenomenon. Media seem incapable of calling a spade a spade. So many things are treated as if they were open questions. There are laws. They are easily researched. Trump’s offer of $5K if people vote Republican, for example, is a plain violation of US criminal statutes. His use of tax payer funds for electoral purposes is also a breach of US electoral law. Instead what we get with media is “ooh, maybe this and perhaps that.” I get that media doesn’t want to reflect bias (let’s assume that’s the motivation) but a failure to call behaviour out when it is at least prima facie illegal is also biased. Do your jobs.
Yes. He is using taxpayers money to run an add for his political party. This is illegal. But everything he does is illegal and there are no repercussions yet. Hopefully, it will change sooner than later.
If this shocks you, you're not going to believe what the CBC have been getting away with in Canada, just blatantly running government propaganda as if it were news.
He knows it’s illegal , he also knows there will never be consequences. So why would he care !
He has as much respect for the law writ large as he has respect for a child’s lack of consent to being assaulted sexually.
